To reach the international stage of the Boneville Salt Flats can be a  challenge for any team. Unfortunately for Ron Heagy and his Quad Squad, they are faced with additional hurdles that do not allow Ron to participate in events in Boneville. On this page we will  expose and explore these issues as well as the  emotional, physical and technical hurdles that face this amazing journey! Please come along for the ride...

 9/22/2009 - The car moves to the famed "Eds Garage" to address our mechanical punch list.

As part of our punch list items to make the car safer and stable for Ron to drive at higher speeds the car moves to Ed's Garage in Vancouver WA. to address our custom steering column. Additional changes and modifications had to be made to tighten up perfrmance as well as address mount location with respect to the braking servo. (It gets pretty crowded down in that pedal area...good job Ed!)






9/24/2009 - Ed completes steering column punch list...






9/27/2009 - Ed addresses some additional needs on the car...brakes & radiator.

10/4/2009 - Ed investigates touch pad shifting linkage and finds shifting mechanics too unsafe...in goes an manual shifter! Ed just happens to have one in his garage spare parts! The Quad Squad team will be placing the car in gear for Ron as he makes his run....








Washington State Highway 221 - Possible testing ground for Ron and his 1968 Firebird to break 3 digits...

A recently repaved two-lane section of Highway 221 in Washington State is only a short 3 hours 53 minute drive away from the home of  the Hope Rod in Vanvouver WA. 

This strip of highway was made famous by the  fastest production car in the world - Guinness World Record holding  Shelby SuperCars’ Ultimate Aero  for an average of 256.18 mph .
